THE FOUNDATION
In 1990, the Röchling family of entrepreneurs established the non-profit foundation to consolidate their activities for the common good under one roof. Since 2018, the Röchling Foundation has focused its activities entirely on the topic of plastics and the environment. It supports both the commitment of civil society organizations and scientific research projects that contribute to improved recycling of plastics.
The Röchling Foundation does not see itself as a mere project sponsor. More important than its financial contributions is its role as an information and dialogue platform and as a bridge builder between the numerous and diverse actors from civil society, business, science and politics. A stronger joint effort by these different sectors is the most important goal of the Röchling Foundation’s work.
The Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of the Röchling Foundation determines the strategic direction of the foundation’s work, develops the strategy and decides on projects and collaborations.
The Shareholders
Röchling-Stiftung GmbH has three shareholders who represent the entire Röchling family of entrepreneurs. They do not hold their shares in the foundation for their own benefit, but purely as trustees for the fulfillment of the foundation’s purpose. In addition, the three shareholders determine the annual financial framework for the activities of the Röchling Foundation.
The Patron
Karin Röchling (†) made a special contribution to the Röchling Foundation as a long-standing member of the Board of Trustees and beyond. As patron, she continued to support the foundation’s work in an advisory capacity with her extensive experience.
The Team
The management and team are responsible for the conceptual and operational work in the foundation’s cooperations. Close, trusting cooperation with the partners from civil society, research, business and politics, oriented towards measurable impact, is paramount.
