Maritime Waste Collection
The Röchling Foundation maintains a long-standing partnership with One Earth, One Ocean (OEOO). OEOO has set itself the goal of developing and implementing a concept for how bodies of water worldwide can be freed from plastic waste, as well as oil and pollutants.
The Röchling Foundation provided financial support for the construction of the first “Sea Cow,” which provides the non-profit organization with a research and waste collection vessel in the integrated system of the “Maritime Waste Collection.” The Röchling Foundation also supported the preparation of a feasibility study for the Sea Elephant, a ship on which plastic waste is to be processed into sulfur-free heating oil in an on-board oil conversion plant. The Röchling Foundation also provided financial support for a project to analyze ocean-bound plastic waste.
