Modulation of governmental commitments
The global negotiations for a worldwide legally binding plastic waste agreement under the umbrella of the United Nations are comparable in their political significance to the Paris Climate Agreement. The Röchling Foundation makes a significant contribution to supporting this process through project funding.
Together with the Minderoo Foundation – the largest Australian foundation – we are financing the development of a data-driven tool that can be used to precisely model the impact of different governmental commitments in scenarios. This will enable the negotiating delegations and the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) to calculate in real time during the negotiations how the interim results of the multilateral pledges to reduce plastic waste will have a concrete impact.
