FUNDING

What we fund

The Röchling Foundation supports civil society organizations and, occasionally, scientific research projects that are committed to the transition from a linear to a circular life and economy – with a particular focus on preventing plastic waste in the environment.

Currently, there is no fixed funding program. Instead, we continuously review incoming cooperation proposals. Our focus is on projects that:

  • contribute to the prevention of plastic waste in the environment,
  • strengthen circular thinking and action,
  • create new alliances or expand existing networks,
  • make knowledge, methods, or good practices accessible,
  • provide impetus for social change.

What is important to us

Systems instead of symptoms

Does your solution contribute to sustainable change? Are you changing something in people, organizations, companies, and institutions? Perfect! We are looking for solutions that address causes instead of merely alleviating symptoms.

Scaling instead of inventing

Your solution should already be developed and tested, at least on a smaller scale. Now you want to take it to the next level? Do you want to amplify your impact or scale up your solution and disseminate it systematically? Wonderful! We find that particularly exciting.

Acting together

We do not believe that complex problems can be solved alone. Therefore, we exclusively support projects and programs that are designed and implemented jointly in strong cooperations. It is even better if partners from different sectors, i.e., civil society, politics and administration, science, and companies, work together.

Growing together

Projects come and go, the problems remain. We would therefore like to invest specifically in projects that create and establish sustainable structures. In solutions that remain and ideally have the potential to grow. For this reason, in many cases, we not only fund project costs but also a share of organizational development. Individual or temporary events, competitions, exhibitions, etc., on the other hand, are less in line with our funding logic.

How we come together

Dialogue instead of application poetry

In the first step, we only want a short outline of your project. We will then discuss everything else. We deliberately do not make any formal requirements. Send us a pitch deck, a text, or a video – whatever works best for you. Describe in it what problem you are addressing, what you are planning to do, with whom you are working, what specific impact you want to achieve, how long it will take, and what it will cost.

We always answer and usually quickly. Unless your proposal is miles away from our content focus on Circular Society and plastic waste prevention, you will receive qualified feedback.

If we fundamentally see the chances of funding as positive, you will receive application advice from us in a direct, personal exchange. In other words, we develop the formal funding application together.

The decision then ultimately lies with our Board of Trustees, which meets four times a year.
