Packaging Data Hub: Reliable data
for a genuine circular economy
In times of strict regulation, growing sustainability obligations and increasing market pressure, the need for reliable packaging data expertise is also growing. The Packaging Data Hub, a joint project of Systemiq and Earth Action – also supported by the Röchling Foundation – addresses precisely this: It creates a central platform for verified, granular packaging data, which until now has mostly been fragmented, incomplete or not comparable.
With a transparent testing process, developed in cooperation with experts from science and civil society, it is systematically ensured for the first time that data quality, traceability and significance become the standard. The platform translates unstructured information into clearly usable key figures – ideal for strategic decisions by companies and policymakers.
In the first project phase, the focus is on plastic-based packaging: The hub provides data on the end-of-life phase in more than 70 countries, including detailed key figures for 20 important states. In the future, fiber and paper packaging are also to follow.
With this data-based approach, the Packaging Data Hub enables drivers in business, administration and society to no longer lag behind decisions – but to make them precise, comparable and future-oriented.
