AI as an initiator for a stronger circular economy
Together with its partners, co2online is using a real-world laboratory to test how the advisory services of non-profit organisations can gain visibility in AI-powered answer systems.
Taking bio-based insulation materials for buildings as an example, Berlin-based co2online and its partner organisations aim to test in a real-world laboratory how non-profit actors can prepare their information and advisory services so that they appear in AI-powered answer systems in a way that is visible, technically accurate, and genuinely helpful for concrete decisions. Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) serves as one methodological building block. Alongside discoverability and source quality, the project focuses in particular on orientation, the handling of trade-offs, and the question of whether AI-generated answers can help users assess their options and identify suitable next steps.
The project comprises a baseline study of how sustainable insulation materials are represented in leading AI systems, a joint work process with partner organisations, the revision of existing content, new answer and advisory formats, practical testing with users and partners, a follow-up measurement, and a playbook that will remain freely available to other non-profit organisations.
